Jurassic Research

Blog ArchivesBlogArchives.htmlBlogArchives.htmlshapeimage_17_link_0

Part of Telltales new project, Jurassic Park, I was lucky enough to attend a lecture and QA session with Dr. Padian at UC Berkley.  Dr. Padian had worked on Jurassic Park 3 as an advisor.  The team spent an entire afternoon being enlightened by Padain on the most current state of paleontology.  The facilities where very impressive with the bones of a T-Rex and multiple heads of various Triceratops.  Dr. Padian was very helpful in answering everyones questions.  I found the trip to be very inspirational.

The most interesting thing I learned was how the unique markings or horns on dinosaurs most likely served no purpose other than for species recognition.  I used to think that the horns on the Triceratops where to ward off T-Rex.  However, recent research suggest that wasn’t the case and that a skin like layer with veins covered these horns.  Science continues to amaze.
